What is the Electoral Roll?

The Electoral Roll is a list for churchgoers in the parish and gives entitlement to vote at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM), or to stand for office as Churchwarden, PCC or Deanery Synod Members.

We consider everyone who attends St Mary’s Church and ChristChurch to be a church member, but membership is measured by the Church of England through the Electoral Roll so it is important that all who feel part of the Church Family are on the Roll.

Who can be on it?

Any lay person (i.e. not ordained clergy) who is baptised and over 16 years old, provided they live in the parish or have worshipped in the church regularly for at least six months.

What do I do now?

Please complete and return the Electoral Roll application below to the Church Office.
If you have any further questions about the Electoral Roll, please speak to a member of clergy or Churchwarden.

How can I be involved in the Church?

For many people being on the Electoral Roll and having the right to vote at the annual meeting will be but a start of their involvement in the life of the church. There are many ways to be involved so please speak to a member of clergy to find out more or head to the 'Serving' page:
