Ely & District Christians Against Poverty

Ely CAP Website
Give someone the opportunity to rebuild their life! We are on a mission to release families in East Cambridgeshire from grinding poverty through award-winning, free debt counselling.

Ely & District Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre is part of the CAP UK network. Its mission is to provide hope and practical support, through the provision of free debt counselling, to those living in the CB6 and CB7 postcode areas of East Cambridgeshire who are weighed down with financial problems and debt.

Through a series of 3 meetings, our Debt Coaches gather the paperwork and information from the client, so that CAP UK can work out a budget and the best route out of debt, bringing people through to financial freedom. Since 2017 we have helped over 100 clients, with 31 becoming debt free so far.

Ely & District CAP was formed in 2014 by Churches Together in Ely, and the Debt Centre opened in April 2017, based at St Mary’s Church Ely. Ely CAP is actively supported by volunteers, prayers and finance from a number of local churches: Ely Cathedral, Countess Church Ely, Ely & Newmarket Methodist Circuit, Lighthouse Church Ely, The Ark Church Isleham and St Mary's Church Ely.

Ely & District CAP costs over £20,000 a year to run. Please help us to continue providing this much-needed free support to those who need it.
