The vision for St Mary’s premises is to be a place of safety, a place of inspiration, a place of prayer, a place of community and a place of celebration.
We hope the building will be in use by the church or community hirers or open to the public for the majority of the time for uses in line with the above vision.
We offer a range of hiring areas and options in the heart of Ely City Centre, perfect for concerts, meetings, conferences, celebrations and much more.

Areas Available
We are able to offer a range of separate areas to meet a range of requirements and can also offer whole or part venue hire options for large scale events.
St. Mary's ChurchThe beautiful 900 year old church is the perfect venue for large functions, celebrations, concerts or community events, and is a highly versatile space which can be configured to suit many occasions.
This recently improved space can offer a range of seating options and a state of the art AV system, including a hearing loop, in a beautiful, timeless space. Max capacity 250 dependent on layout. |
The church is a fully flexible space and can be laid out to suit many different events. Options include free flow for exhibitions, theatre style for conferences or concerts, mixed use with seating and a coffee area perfect for seminars or banquet style for parties or award ceremonies. We may be able to accommodate other layouts on request.
The Church Halls
The church hall is located behind the main church building and provides a versatile space for smaller meetings and events with the option to use as a whole or create smaller zones to suit a variety of uses as well as a sound system including a hearing loop and a wall mounted screen with connection for laptops.

Small Meeting Room
The small meeting room situated off the church hall is the perfect space for a break out space or for a small meeting or group.

Facilities and Accessibility
Accessibility: Access into and within the main church building is either flat or ramped and step free access continues through and into the hall. Hearing loop systems cover the main church and main hall.
Toilets: Our toilet facilities have been recently refreshed and are available to all users. There is a ladies toilet, a unisex toilet with baby changing facilities and a unisex accessible toilet
Parking: There is limited parking along the access road at the front of the churchyard. We would request that this is reserved for setup/set down access and for disabled users. Extensive parking is available only a short walk away in the nearby free council car parks on St. Mary’s Street (short stay - 2 hours max) and Barton Road (long stay).
Kitchen: The kitchen off the main hall is fully equipped and can be included in your booking for full catering or teas and coffees. There is also a small coffee servery in the Old Vestry at the rear of the main church building.

Hire Rates
Hire rates are on a per hour basis unless otherwise discussed. We offer a discount for regular bookings, charities and community groups. Winter rates include heating. Please discuss with the church office.

Please note that your booking is not confirmed until agreed with the church office and a signed booking form returned. Priority is given to church services and events but all other booking requests are on a first come, first served basis.
Don’t forget to include time for set up before and clearing up after your event in your booking request! Cleaning is not included and all users are expected to leave the rooms and facilities clean and with furniture arranged as found unless otherwise discussed.
