St Mary's PCC Code of Conduct

Before the meeting:
  • Feel encouraged to discuss agenda items with members of the congregation and other Council members so that we can better represent our congregations and equip ourselves.
  • If you are unable to attend and want to offer comments on a particular agenda item, please feel free to send a short email to the chairperson who will feed it into the discussion.
  • Feel free, occasionally, to offer a paper or supporting document relating to an agenda item via the Secretary, who will show it to the Rector or Vicar before circulating it to the PCC.

At the meeting:
  • We encourage everyone to take part in the discussions.
  • All contributions are made through the chair.
  • We try to listen carefully and respectfully to one another.
  • Please speak with grace and love – particularly when we disagree with one another.
  • Bear in mind that we are elected to represent the views of church members, not just our own agenda.
  • Our discussions are confidential, but decisions and a summary is available on the website.

After the meeting:
  • Please avoid discussing or debating PCC decisions using email or social media after the event – try to channel concerns or disagreements face to face with appropriate members/officers.
  • It is our collective responsibility to support decisions taken by a majority of the Council.

Approved by PCC 23rd May 2022 and reviewed annually.
